Agusta Westland Chopper SCAM: CBI in Chandigarh to probe IDS Infotech

Chandigarh: Rattled by the alleged kickbacks given to unnamed Indians in the Rs 3,546-crore AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter scandal, a four-member CBI team landed in Chandigarh late on Friday night to probe Chandigarh-based IT company IDS Infotech.

References to two Chandigarh-based companies—IDS India and Aeromatrix—were made in the Italian court filings. Aeromatrix was a business unit of IDS Infotech that worked on projects for AgustaWestland. “Several evidences have indicated that IDS Infotech is IDS India, which received millions of Euros as kickbacks as revealed in the court filings by Italian prosecutors.

The two Italian middlemen—Carlos Gerosa and Guido Haschke—were earlier dealing with IDS and then acquired Aeromatrix through a firm in Mauritius,” said a CBI official. TNN
