Irrigation Scam : 3 Member SIT To Investigate Case

Nagpur: Bowing to pressure from the opposition, the state government on Monday announced a probe by a special investigation team (SIT) into the alleged irrigation scam.

Water resources minister Sunil Tatkare informed the Lower House of the legislature that the SIT would be headed by irrigation expert and former bureaucrat Dr Madhavrao Chitale. The team’s terms of reference and work duration, he said, would be finalized before December 31.

Government sources said the panel would have two more members apart from Chitale and would get six months to complete the probe. The two other SIT members will also be former civil servants, with one from a financial background.
