Andhra home min figures in CBI’s Jagan chargesheet

Hyderabad: The Kiran Kumar Reddy government was left red-faced on Monday when its home minister Sabita Indra Reddy was named an accused in the CBI chargesheet in the Jagan Mohan Reddy disproportionate assets case.

Sabita Reddy was the mines minister between 2004 and 2009 when Jagan’s father YSR Rajsekhara Reddy was the CM. She has been charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and cheating, among other offences, as permissions and licences were given for limestone quarrying to cement firms that invested in Jagan’s companies, during her tenure, for return of favours.

While Sabita denies any wrongdoing, she is the third minister in the Kiran Reddy regime to be chargesheeted in the case.

Sabita offers to quit
Hyderabad: After she was chargesheeted in the Jaganmohan Reddy DA case, home minister Sabita Indra Reddy said she was ready to quit the Kiran cabinet on moral grounds. “There’s no need for me to continue as home minister. I never took up this assignment for my benefit. I came to politics to serve the people,” Sabita told TOI. TNN
